Guerrilla War

1989 KevätAavan meren tuolla puolen jossakin on maa, jossa tyranni hirmuinen asustaa. Kiireen palkka onkin hengen meno.

Ensinnäkin grafiikka on uskomattoman huonoa.

1989 KevätBeyond the open sea, somewhere far away, lies a land where a dreadful tyrant holds sway. He torments the poor people and bosses them around, and bustles about only where evil is found. But one day through the people the word flies fast: "Two heroes have arrived to save us at last!" Soon the oppressors lie piled in a crooked stack, but hooray! Haste's reward is that you don't come back. The heroes charge in splendidly, just so, and soon, face bloodied, down goes the foe. When each of them picks up a bazooka to wield, Death shouts bingo all over the field. With the people's support you can go ahead and fill the tyrant up with beans of lead.

Guerrilla Wars picks up where Ikari Warriors left off. Finding extra weapons is a nice bonus, of course, as is the men's ability to turn and fire to the sides as well. Guerrilla War has quite enough of its own that it doesn't feel like just a warmed-over Ikari. A couple of things do rankle a little, though.

First, the graphics are unbelievably bad. You could make more detailed graphics out of Lego bricks. The bullets fly slowly and jerkily, and the scrolling hasn't the nerve not to do the same. There's as much playability as there are atheists in the Vatican, but at least the music isn't half bad.

Imagine's reputation is badly blackened by this Guerrilla Wars-64, a contender for the award for the worst conversion of the year. Even if the managing director's grandson does know the basics of machine code, the result shouldn't be offered at full price. That's a cheap trick.
