PET Game Patches for Business Keyboards

The Commodore PET came with two different keyboards: the original graphics keyboard and the later business keyboard. The two are wired differently, so a game that reads the keyboard hardware directly and was written for the graphics keyboard may not work properly - or at all - on a PET with a business keyboard.

This project is a set of binary patches that modify existing game files so that they work with business keyboards. You keep your own copy of the game and apply the patch to it.

How to use a patch

  1. Make sure that your game file is the one the patch is for: its MD5 checksum must match the one listed for the game on GitHub.
    md5sum "afo with sound.prg"
  2. Apply the patch with bspatch to make a new, patched file.
bspatch "afo with sound.prg" afo.prg "afo with sound.bsdiff"
