Final Command
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1991 SyksyEletään 2100-lukua: verinen avaruussota Horganteja vastaan on päättynyt vaihtuen kylmäksi kyräilyksi.
Miksi Ipsokselta löytyvä Horganttien alus on hylätty? Miten on mahdollista, että säteily on muuttanut aseman henkilökunnan ajatuksen voimalla tappaviksi mutantteiksi?
Salapoliisin työ sujuu hiiriohjauksella, jota voisi luonnehtia laiskan ohjelmoijan seikkailutyyliksi. Peli on itse asiassa sarja kuvia, joihin on piilotettu ikoneita.
Pelissä on erikoislaatuinen painostava tunnelma, jota tukee kuvituksen persoonallinen tyyli.
Huolestuttavin piirre on liiallinen helppous.
1991 SyksyIt is the 22nd century: the bloody space war against the Horgants has ended, giving way to a cold, sullen standoff. With the sciences flourishing, a research station called Junar G2 is set up on the planet Ipsos III to study long-range matter transmitters. But contact is mysteriously lost, and the same happens to a ship named Centaure, which is sent to look into the matter.
This is the setup for a cross between a sci-fi adventure and a spy story, and it is packed with mysteries. Who murdered the Centaure's crew? Why has the Horgantt ship found on Ipsos been abandoned? How is it possible that radiation has turned the station's staff into mutants who kill with the power of thought?
The detective work is done with mouse control, which you could describe as the lazy programmer's school of adventure. The game is in fact a series of pictures with icons hidden in them. The first click gives you information and the second one acts: picking up an object, going through a door or using a device, for example. The system is extremely smooth, but it doesn't make for very glamorous puzzles: the mutants kill you if you pick the wrong one of two possible routes, and the Horgant ship blows up if you shove the wrong ID card into the computer.
The game has a peculiar, oppressive atmosphere, backed up by the distinctive style of the artwork. In places the graphics look as if they were finished in a hurry, or even downright messy, but that only strengthens the impression of all-round decay in the cyberpunk spirit.
FC is a very close relative of Exxos's Kult, but the execution is a class below it. The most worrying feature is that it is far too easy. There are usually so few sensible options on offer that you get a long way in the game even if you don't understand diddly-squat about the plot. A more experienced player quickly grasps the game's internal logic, and progress is so brisk that within a couple of days the mystery is solved and the game is left on the shelf to gather dust.
