Prosoccer 2190
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1991 KevätProsoccer 2190 on olevinaan tulevaisuuden versio jalkapallosta.
Pelistä saatu ensivaikutelma on todella masentava.
Edellä luetelluista vähemmän mukavista ominaisuuksista huolimatta P2190 on nipin napin siedettävä kaksinpelissä. Pallon potkaisu on ainakin hyvin selkeästi toteutettu: voima määräytyy napin painalluksen pituudesta ja samaan aikaan voi säätää korkeutta ja kierrettä tikkua vääntämällä. Mielenkiintoa lisää jonkin verran erityinen valmennusmoodi, jossa kone hoitelee pallottelun ja pelaaja voi keskittyä vaihtelemaan taktiikkaa, joukkueen kokoonpanoa ja pelaajien paikkoja.
Hieman jäi sellainen tunne, että P2190 on keskeneräiseksi jäänyt buginen jalkapallopeli, josta tehtiin julkaisukelpoinen keksimällä uusi urheilulaji.
1991 KevätProsoccer 2190 purports to be a future version of football. It is, however, a team game just like perfectly ordinary football, both in looks and in its rules, except that it's played indoors and the ball resembles a superball more than footy's leather sphere.
The first impression the game gives is truly depressing. The computer opponent scores goals at such an efficient rate that you don't always even get the chance to touch the joystick. That leaves the two-player game, but that in turn is ruined by the ball's peculiar movement. If, for example, you kick it at an angle into the end wall, the ball by no means bounces back onto the pitch, but rolls along the wall and over the goal. To top it all, the kick is counted as a goal.
The ball's bounciness and high speed are another odd feature. After the right kind of shot it may bounce back and forth between two players for goodness knows how long. To make the depression complete, let me also mention the most pointless slow-motion replays in the universe. Firstly, the replay is shown at an agonisingly slow pace one frame at a time, and secondly there is no way whatsoever to interrupt it.
Despite the less than pleasant features listed above, P2190 is just barely bearable as a two-player game. Kicking the ball, at least, has been implemented very clearly: the power is determined by how long you hold the button down, and at the same time you can adjust the height and the spin by twisting the joystick. Interest is boosted somewhat by a special coaching mode, in which the computer handles the kicking about and the player can concentrate on switching tactics, the team line-up and the players' positions.
I was left with a slight feeling that P2190 is an unfinished, buggy football game that was made fit for release by inventing a new sport.
