1991 KevätVelhojen oppipojilla on taipumus aiheuttaa hankalia sotkuja leikkiessään liian huolettomasti taikavoimillaan.
Taikojen toteutuksessa on mukana runsaasti huumoria.
Ainoa mieleenjäävä seikka on vitsikkään sarjakuvamainen grafiikka.
1991 KevätWizards' apprentices have a tendency to make awkward messes when they play too carelessly with their magic powers. This time an enormous stock of secret scrolls and potions has been scattered all over a limbo realm ruled by gods and demons. The choice is either to fetch the spells back or to face the wizard's wrath, for example by having to spend the rest of your life as the floor of the local boozer.
Mystical isn't one bit as interesting as it sounds. At heart it's an Ikari Warriors clone cloaked in disguise. The hero character wears out shoe leather across vertically scrolling scenery, using spells found on the ground against a horde of freaks charging in. In two-player mode the operation is assisted by a troll-like creature that squashes the bogeymen flat under itself and, when its energy runs out, retires on a temporary holiday in the shape of a mole.
There's plenty of humour in the way the spells are done. The freaks, which range from priests to walking trees, get magicked into frogs, the earth swallows them up, a fireball wipes them to ashes and cages dropping from the sky trap them inside. The practical workability, on the other hand, is badly off. Every spell you find gets used straight away unless you move it into storage by pressing the space bar. When the active spell runs out, you then have to hunt for a suitable incantation by tapping the space bar and cast it by pressing Enter. If that wasn't clumsy enough already, there's also a long delay between activating a spell and its effect while the hero reads the scroll or empties out the contents of the bottle.
Even if the magic system had been made to work, the game would hardly manage to hold your interest anyway. An endlessly monotonous gang of bogeymen trickles down from the top of the screen, and that's all there is to it. The only memorable thing is the wittily cartoonish graphics.
