Dynamite Dux
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

Erinomaisen toimivuuden kääntöpuolena on kuitenkin liiallinen helppous.
1990 SyksyWe got acquainted with the antics of the dynamite ducks on home computers ages ago, but surprisingly the Sega version beats them all on playability and partly on graphics too. It's a beat-'em-up in which the poor boxing-gloved ducks knock flat a whole menagerie of animal-themed monsters with all manner of implements that come to hand, plus explosive spinning punches.
You can waddle through the horizontally scrolling fantasy landscapes alone or in pairs, in which case a plucky duo of duck brothers squabbles over the flamethrowers, missiles and lumps of rock. The levels have been given interest-boosting variety by placing a fork halfway along, where you can choose whichever route you fancy. You run into the bigger bogeymen, such as unruly fire creatures and stone men, on a couple of occasions, halfway through the level and at the end.
Both the heroes and the cute teddy-bear monsters are likeable characters, and the game has a splendidly cartoonish, surreal atmosphere all round. For background graphics the game is definitely among the best on the Sega; in fact the standard is fully comparable with the Amiga version.
Compared with the Amiga and Commodore 64 versions, the Sega DD is clearly more enjoyable. The scuffles with the end-of-level monsters in particular are better pitched at the normal average player. The flip side of it working so excellently, however, is that it's far too easy. You never have to go back to the start, which is why I polished off the whole caboodle in about half an hour. So the game can only be recommended to the very young or to complete beginners.
