Black Tiger

1990 SyksyKyllä on mieli musta, kun kolmen lohikäärmeen koalitio vaihteeksi hyökkää ah ennen niin rauhallisen kuningaskunnan kimppuun ja aloittaa terrorin & kauhun sekaisen hallituskautensa. Kukapa olisi hyvä vastaehdokas normaalikonsensuksen palauttajaksi? Musta tiikeri, entäs susta?

Black Tiger kuuluu sarjaan hypi, kiipeä ja tuhoa. Sen pahoina häärää normaali hirviövalikoima. Näppärä tiikeri kilauttaa heistä hengen pois ketjun päässä olevalla murikalla, ja tempaiseepa samaan aikaan sarjan tikareitakin lentoon. Avaimia keräämällä saa positiivisia tahi negatiivisia ylläreitä sisältävät arkut auki.

Tässä pelissä ei vanhuksia kannata potkia, sillä nämä sieltä täältä löytyvät miekkoset antavat lisäaikaa, elämiä, vihjeitä ja saattaapa vanha veijari tempaista kioskinkin pystyyn myydäkseen parempia aseita, haarniskoita ja muuta roinaa.

Pahempia yllätyksiä ei tarjoa edes toteutus. 16-bittinen grafiikka on varsin onnistunutta. ST:n lievä nyppyscrolli on onnistuneen identtisesti siirretty Amigaan, mikä ärsyttänee monia.

Black Tiger on lajissaan hyvä, joskin tuikitavallinen peli. Ikävä kyllä tälläiset pelit myyvät parhaiten.

1990 SyksyMy mood is black indeed, as a coalition of three dragons, for a change, attacks the, ah, once so peaceful kingdom and begins its reign of mingled terror & horror. Who would make a good opposition candidate to restore the normal consensus? Black Tiger, how about you?

Black Tiger belongs to the jump, climb and destroy series. Its baddies are the usual assortment of monsters. The nimble tiger clonks the life out of them with a lump of rock on the end of a chain, and at the same time flings a volley of daggers into the air as well. By collecting keys you get to open chests containing positive or negative surprises.

In this game it doesn't pay to kick old folks, because these old chaps found here and there give you extra time, lives and hints, and the old rascal may even throw up a kiosk to sell better weapons, armour and other junk.

Not even the implementation offers any nastier surprises. The 16-bit graphics are quite successful. The ST's slightly jerky scrolling has been carried over to the Amiga with successful exactness, which will probably annoy many. The sampled effects sound identical too.

The C-64's two-tone graphics don't exactly thrill, but they don't annoy either. Playability is otherwise OK in all versions, but the tiger's ballistic jumping doesn't please: once the tiger jumps, you can't influence the direction or the landing zone during the flight.

Black Tiger is a good game of its kind, if a thoroughly ordinary one. Sadly, games like this sell the best.
