Ninja Warriors
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

NW perustuu Taiton kolmiruutuiseen kolikkopeliin. Nämä kolme monitoria on kotiversiona supistettu kapeaksi kentäksi keskelle ruutua.
Lajityypin ihailijat saavat vastiketta koko rahan edestä, muut tuskin heilahtavat.
1990 Kevät1993 - The evil tyrant Bangler rules with an iron fist, and only the android ninjas, i.e. these Ninja Warriors, can cut the man's thread of life so that everybody can have a super nice time again. This standard plot serves as the excuse for a horizontally scrolling killing drama.
NW is based on Taito's three-screen coin-op. In the home version these three monitors have been squeezed into a narrow strip in the middle of the screen. And the solution works. The shuriken-throwing, knife-slashing ninjas (one on the C-64, two on the Amiga) advance, kill and every so often come up against Those Badder Dudes.
The C-64's simple backgrounds have been replaced on the Amiga by highly varied background graphics, which load in as the game goes along without disturbing it. The Amiga graphics have in fact been sucked straight out of the coin-op machine, which presumably explains the excellent animation and the thick-and-fast sound. Not that the C-64 has anything to be ashamed of either.
Ninja Warriors is a standard beat'em-up, but excellently converted and exceptionally playable. Admirers of the genre get their money's worth in full; the rest will barely stir.
