Mr Heli
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

Perusideana on jälleen kerran rehti räiskintä lisäaseiden kera.
Kärsivällinen pelaaja ehkä sopeutuu klaustrofobiseen tunnelmaan, mutta lisäksi vieritys on juuri sellaista hervotonta nytkytystä, jonka katseleminen sopii ohjelmaksi Amigan väärinkäyttäjien vieroitusklinikalle.
1990 KevätThe helicopter has always been the games crowd's pet gizmo, and its favourite haunt has, illogically, been underground caverns. Let's recall, for instance, a classic like Fort Apocalypse (a moment of nostalgic reminiscence).
Mr Heli cuts even the few remaining ties to reality and sends a stubby-legged chopper chap buzzing around surreal cave networks. The original coin-op version of Mr Heli was made by Irem, who became known thanks to the cult classic R-type. Sounds promising, but what gets the eyebrow rising is the news that Mr Heli's conversion is the work of Probe, who have managed to botch a big pile of good games.
The basic idea is once again an honest shoot-'em-up with extra weapons. Shredding the slag cubes that decorate the caves uncovers crystals that serve as currency, and icons from which you can scrape together extra equipment if you have enough cash. The caves buzz with an endless supply of little slugs, so pressing on quickly is a tactic worth recommending.
Once the scenery has been scrolled horizontally, vertically and now and then a bit backwards too, it's time for the obligatory routine, namely the super-baddie squatting at the end of the level.
Insipidly ordinary and mildly perky design would still pass if the execution were decent, but that it certainly isn't. It's frustrating to dodge the endless hail of bullets streaming in from every direction when the propeller toy is too big to manoeuvre in the cramped caves. A patient player might get used to the claustrophobic atmosphere, but on top of that the scrolling is exactly the kind of helpless juddering that would make ideal viewing on the programme at a detox clinic for Amiga abusers.
The sound department is handled by a grating plinking in the background that sounds like pouring sand into your ears, but luckily you can swap it for sound effects. There's something positive to be found after all: the graphics are colourful and excitingly naive in style. Personally, though, I prefer brash, swaggering macho posturing.
Mr Heli has quite enough ingredients for a satisfying destruction game, but Amiga owners surely have the right to demand more for their money than a badly programmed ST game, which, as everyone knows, runs even worse on the Amiga.
