Commando
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1990 KevätOlipa kerran peli, jossa yksinäinen mies säntäili läpi tiuhan vihollisparven pyssy pukkuen ja kranaatit räiskyen sotilastovereitaan pelastamaan. Ja hetkessä niitä tuli lisää, kunnes maailma oli täynnä tämän Commando-nimisen pelin klooneja.
Vuosia, vuosia tämän jälkeen saavat myös 16-bittisen omistajat tutustua tähän vanhaan klassikkoon. Commando on täysin lajinsa perustyyppi: lisäaseita ei ole, taistelukentältä saa kerättyä vain kranaatteja. Eikä käännöskään ole erityisen onnistunut. Grafiikka on sinänsä ok, jos kohta oudon värittömän näköistä. Pelattavuus horjahtelee, varsinkin siinä että kranaattien tuhovoima on jossain pikkukiinalaisen tasolla.
Valittaen täytyy todeta, että aika on ajanut Commandon ohi. Budjettipeliksi oiva valinta, täyttä hintaa ei kannata maksaa.
1990 KevätOnce upon a time there was a game in which a lone man dashed through a dense swarm of enemies, gun rattling and grenades blasting, to rescue his fellow soldiers. And in no time more of them came along, until the world was full of clones of this game called Commando.
Years and years later, the owners of 16-bitters also get to make the acquaintance of this old classic. Commando is the absolute basic model of its kind: there are no extra weapons, and the only thing you can collect on the battlefield is grenades. Nor is the conversion particularly successful. The graphics are OK as such, if strangely colourless-looking. The playability wobbles, especially in that the grenades pack roughly the destructive power of a penny banger.
Regrettably it has to be said that time has passed Commando by. As a budget game it would be an excellent choice, but it's not worth paying full price for.
