Wec Le Mans 24
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1989 KevätMe kaikki muistanemme onnettoman kuusnelosversion Outrunista. No, aika kuluu ja tekniikka kehittyy.
Wec mun koneesta, Le Mans!
1989 KevätI dare say we all remember the wretched Commodore 64 version of Outrun. Well, time passes and technology advances. As a coin-op, Konami's Wec Le Mans is perhaps even the most popular in the world, and, true to its name, it depicts the 24-hour race at Le Mans. There are both day and night stretches, with graphics that beat Outrun's hands down. The track changes after three time-limited laps.
Surprise, surprise: the C-64 Wec Le Mans is so damn awful it makes you want to cry. Just for the challenge of it I tried to find something positive, but I had to surrender.
The sense of speed in this garbage comes from the classic use of grey stripes. When the fearsome racer streaks along at maximum warp, you are treated to a splendid effect: the stripes stay more or less where they are. There's not much movement at the roadside either, the scenery being conspicuous by its absence. But the worst is yet to be told: when you wrench the joystick, it's the car that moves, not the road, and that destroys the last stubborn illusion of driving a car. On top of it all, the car accelerates like a moped with no chain.
There's room for humour in the world, sure, but Ocean's latest joke didn't amuse me one bit. Wec out of my machine, Le Mans!
