Typhoon

1989 KevätJälleen yksi grafiikalla ratsastava kolikkopeli yrittää selviytyä kuusnelosessa. Tällä kertaa on uhrina Konamin Afterburner-1942-cocktail Typhoon.

Peli koostuu kahdesta osiosta, joista ensimmäisessä lennetään pilvien läpi F-14-hävittäjällä afterburneriaanisissa tunnelmissa. Näkymä on suoraa koneen takaa.

1989 KevätYet another arcade game riding on its graphics tries to survive on the C-64. This time the victim is Konami's Afterburner-1942 cocktail Typhoon.

The game consists of two sections, in the first of which you fly through the clouds in an F-14 fighter in an Afterburnerian atmosphere. The view is from directly behind the plane. The F-14 hurtles through oncoming enemy fighters and clouds of missiles until a battleship comes into view. After this the fighter is lowered downwards on a string a few metres at a time, letting its guns sing, until the missile-spitting ship is no more.

After this heroic deed it's on to flying classically from the bottom of the screen to the top, in a fighting machine that has suddenly turned into a helicopter. Extra weapons are collected and oncoming foes shot at, just as in a thousand games before this one and thousands after it.

In keeping with Imagine's current style, Typhoon is very neatly made (the fractal clouds rolling forward in part one were especially nice), but there's nothing new to be found in Typhoon. A perfectly nice game, but not special in any respect, and presumably meant mainly to eat into Afterburner's market.
