Soldier of Light

1989 KevätSeuraa kysymys: hyvä Xain, pyhä tehtäväsi on vapauttaa galaksi Federaation ikeen alta (tämä on SOLin tekijöiden näkemys eikä vastaa arvostelijan kantaa Federaatiosta ja Starfleetistä). He ovat soluttaneet kolme planeettaa järjestelmästämme ja vain sinä, rakas Xain, seisot meidän ja tuhon välissä. Kysymys kuuluu: millainen peli on kyseessä?
Aivan oikein, shoot'em-uphan se siellä oli. Ja tällä kertaa sitä mallia, missä sankari pomppii tasolta toiselle, ampuu ja keräilee lisä-aseita, kunnes kohtaa jossain välissä normaalia isomman ja sitkeämmän hirviön. Sinänsä ennen monasti nähtyä.
Mutta ovathan tällaiset pelit hauskoja, ei niihin muuten kukaan rahojaan työntäisi. Ja Soldier of Light täyttää hyvän Amiga-shoot'em-upin vaatimukset: graafinen puoli on ammattimiesten työtä eikä ääniäkään voi haukkua. Soldier of Lightia pelaa ihan mielikseen, mikä onkin suurin kehu mihin tämä peliarvostelija jaksaa venyä. Mitäpä muutakaan Soldier of Lightista jaksaisi sanoa?

They have infiltrated three planets in our system and only you, dear Xain, stand between us and destruction. The question is: what kind of game are we talking about?
Quite right, a shoot'em-up is what it was. And this time the kind where the hero bounces from platform to platform, shooting and collecting extra weapons, until somewhere along the way he runs into a monster that's bigger and tougher than normal. Seen many times before, as such.
But then games like this are fun, otherwise nobody would shove their money into them. And Soldier of Light meets the requirements of a good Amiga shoot'em-up: the graphics side is the work of professionals and you can't knock the sound either. Soldier of Light is quite pleasant to play, which is in fact the biggest compliment this game reviewer can be bothered to stretch to. What else could anyone be bothered to say about Soldier of Light?
