1989 KevätVanhasta peruskoripallopelistä One-On-Onesta on nyt sitten tehty kakkososa. One-On-Onehan oli suuri ihmetys joskus takavuosina. Katsotaanpa mitä EOA:n uusi versio meille tarjoaa.
Pienen latauksen jälkeen ruutuun tulee tyylikäs kuva ja korviini kajahtaa mahtava soundi. Aivan oikein: Rob Hubbardhan se siellä rapakon takana on taas saanut jotain aikaiseksi. Kädet täristen painan fireä ja seuraavaksi silmieni eteen ilmestyy pelin päävalikko. Valittavaa riittää ihan pulmaksi asti: kahdeksan eri pelivaihtoehtoa ja kaksitoista muutettavaa optiota. Peliä voi pelata yksin tai kaverin kanssa, tai katsella kun kone pelaa itseään vastaan. Pelin pituuden voi säätää, samoin kun tietokoneen taidot. Muuteltavaa riittää.
Pelivaihtoehdot voisi jakaa kolmeen ryhmään: 1 on 1, Slam Dunk ja 3-Point. Näistä voi sitten valita erilaisia variaatioita. 1 on 1-pelissä Jordan ja Bird yrittävät vuoronperään saada koreja toisen puolustaessa. Slam dunk taasen on freestyle-diggareille ihannevaihtoehto: pelaaja yrittää donkata pallon koriin mahdollisimman monimutkaisesti. 3-Pointissa yritetään saada mahdollisimman nopeasti mahdollisimman monta palloa koriin mahdollisimman kaukaa.
Kaikki pelit ovat huolella tehtyjä ja mielenkiintoisia. Grafiikka on ihan kelvollista eurooppalaiseenkin makuun ja pelattavuus on loistava. Mielenkiinto pelaamiseen säilyy varmasti vuosia, sillä mikään ei ole hauskempaa kuin yrittää hakata kaverinsa kaksinpelissä. Ja jos pidätte hyvästä musiikista, ostakaa J vs B One On One. Hubbard saa jälleen kerran Sidistä irti kaiken minkä siitä voi saada!
1989 KevätSo the old basic basketball game One-On-One has now been given a sequel. One-On-One was quite the marvel back in the day, after all. Let's take a look at what EOA's new version has to offer us.
After a short load, a stylish picture appears on screen and a mighty sound rings in my ears. That's right: it's Rob Hubbard, over there across the pond, who has cooked something up again. With trembling hands I press fire, and next the game's main menu appears before my eyes. There's enough to choose from to be downright bewildering: eight different game modes and twelve adjustable options. You can play alone or with a friend, or watch the computer play against itself. The length of the game can be adjusted, and so can the computer's skill. There's plenty to fiddle with.
The game modes could be divided into three groups: 1 on 1, Slam Dunk and 3-Point. Within these you can then pick various variations. In the 1 on 1 game Jordan and Bird take turns trying to score baskets while the other defends. Slam dunk, on the other hand, is the ideal option for freestyle fans: the player tries to dunk the ball into the basket in as complicated a way as possible. In 3-Point you try to get as many balls into the basket as possible, as fast as possible, from as far away as possible.
All the games are carefully made and interesting. The graphics are perfectly acceptable even to European tastes, and the playability is brilliant. Interest in playing will surely last for years, since nothing is more fun than trying to thrash your mate in two-player mode. And if you like good music, buy J vs B One On One. Once again Hubbard squeezes out of the Sid everything there is to be had!
