Fusion
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

Pelaajan alus koostuu kahdesta palasta.
Grafiikka ainakin on hyvännäköistä, taustat etenkin.
Fusionissa on yksi paha ongelma. Se on juuri sellainen peli, jota pelatessa alkaa miettiä jäikö autoon valot ja saiko vaimo ruokaa. Siis yksinkertaisesti mielenkiinnoton. Enemmän tai vähemmän samanlaisia pelejä on jo muutenkin liikaa. Omaperäisintä pelissä on pisteiden ilmoittaminen muukalaiskirjaimina. Mikä innovaation triumfi...
Amiga-ohjelmoijien olisi syytä kurkistaa, millaisia pelejä ST:lle on alkanut ilmestyä ja unohtaa kasibittinen ajattelutapansa. Kyllä minä uskon jo että Amigalla saa tehtyä hyvännäköisiä ammuskelupelejä, eiköhän olisi aika keksiä jotain muutakin?
1989 KevätSo few proper Amiga games come out for the Amiga that expectations always stay high. Now EOA adds a new name to this short list.
Fusion combines brains and blasting. The aim is to save the world by assembling a bomb from parts found on the various levels of an alien world. Access to them is blocked by gates, which can be opened with pattern- and colour-coded switches found here and there. Here and there are also icons which, when passed over, give standard bonuses such as firepower or field energy.
The player's craft consists of two pieces. The slow ground-grubber is the one used to activate the levers. The somewhat faster mothership lets you zoom along above the ground. There's just enough firepower that the craft can, in principle, be called capable of defending themselves.
The graphics at least look good, especially the backgrounds. The game runs in halfbrite mode, which means there should be 64 colours on screen. Maybe that's why the scrolling then judders rather badly. The sound effects are miserable, and the background music isn't all that marvellous either.
Fusion has one serious problem. It's exactly the kind of game that has you wondering, while you play, whether you left the car lights on and whether the wife got anything to eat. In other words, simply uninteresting. There are too many more-or-less identical games already as it is. The most original thing in the game is showing the score in alien letters. What a triumph of innovation...
Amiga programmers would do well to take a peek at the kind of games that have started appearing for the ST, and forget their 8-bit mindset. All right, I believe it already: you can make good-looking shoot-'em-ups on the Amiga. Isn't it about time to come up with something else as well?
