Daley Thompson's Olympic Challenge
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

Ocean on ilmeisesti löytänyt pöytälaatikosta vanhan, kuluneen sopimuksen, jossa todetaan heillä olevan oikeuden käyttää Daley Thompsonin nimeä peleissään. Suunnittelu on kuitenkin mennyt hieman pieleen.
Vaikeustaso on kertakaikkiaan liian korkealle säädetty, joten ainakin minä valitsen klassisen HesGamesin koska tahansa.
1989 KevätOnce upon a time, long ago... no, no, not some beautiful princess or enchanted stick, but one of the first joystick-killer games, by the name of Daley Thompson's Decathlon.
Sports games have been around almost since the computer was invented, delighting dedicated armchair athletes. The kind who, come Olympics time, lift their backsides out of the armchair only if the Games coverage turns out to be on the other channel after all and the remote control isn't quite within arm's reach.
Ocean has apparently found in a desk drawer an old, worn-out contract stating that they have the right to use Daley Thompson's name in their games. Ocean's marketing men added up one (the Olympics) and one (Thompson was the favourite in the decathlon) and got Daley Thompson's Olympic Challenge as the result. The game has all ten familiar events, so enough said about them. This time, at least, the main sprite is black, and not white, yellow or red as in its predecessor. The design, however, has gone slightly wrong. Before every event you have to choose your shoes, and if you choose wrong, the event goes wrong too. On top of that, you get sent back to the first event if you blow it in some later one.
The graphics, at least, are beautifully polished, and the music pleases the ear. The ST-Amiga has beautiful animated digitised pictures and a high-class implementation all round. Even though the outer shell is in order, the merciless joystick-whisking doesn't keep you enthused for very long. The difficulty level is simply set too high, so I, for one, will pick the classic HesGames any day.
