Terrorpods
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

Juoni on seuraavanlainen: Asteroidi Colian on täynnä rikkaita mineraalialueita. Mineraaleja, joita ei saa mistään muualta maailmankaikkeudesta, on kaivamassa päivänvaloon kymmenisen yhdyskuntaa. Eräänä päivänä Imperiumin emäalus asettuu kiertoradalle ja lähettää sotajoukkonsa valtaamaan asteroidin ja tehtaat rakentaakseen siellä itselleen Terrorpodeja, äärimmäisiä tuhokoneita.
Maasi hallitus antaa sinulle käskyn soluttautua planeetalle ja varastaa Terrorpodien komponentteja, jotta he voivat tutkia miten nämä tuhokoneet on valmistettu ja miten ne voidaan tuhota. Pelin alussa olet juuri laskeutunut aluksellasi asteroidille.
1988After the brilliant Barbarian there was reason to look forward to Psygnosis's next release. The first three games were flops, but the standard of the games has been on the rise all along. For some reason, though, this upward trend comes to an end with Terrorpods. At heart Terrorpods is just a three-dimensional destruction game with some mineral trading muddled in on top.
The plot goes like this: the asteroid Colian is full of rich mineral fields. Some ten colonies are busy digging minerals out into the daylight, minerals that can't be found anywhere else in the universe. One day the Empire's mothership settles into orbit and sends its troops down to seize the asteroid and the factories, so as to build itself Terrorpods there - the ultimate machines of destruction.
Your country's government orders you to infiltrate the planet and steal Terrorpod components, so that they can study how these machines of destruction are built and how they can be destroyed. At the start of the game you have just landed on the asteroid in your ship.
The graphics are typical of the 16-bit machines: detailed, colourful and fast. The different parts of the landscape slide across the screen at different speeds, which gives a brilliant impression of perspective. The animation is top class, although the animated objects are small. There is no music in the game, but the digitised effects make up for its absence nicely.
Sounds superb, doesn't it? Quite right, and it looks superb too. But the game lacks that certain something that would lift it to the level of the megagames you play for weeks on end. There's nothing wrong with the implementation - the mouse control works well and the keyboard functions are logical, but... Despite its showy outer shell, Terrorpods is, in short, dull and tedious. A pity.
