1988Tykkien jyskettä... Panssarien kolinaa... KK:n jäkätystä ja tuskaa. Operaatio Cobra.
Patton versus Rommel on hienosti tehty peli.
Tausta on hieman poikkeavan näköinen totutusta, ilmeisesti digitoitu suoraan kartasta.
1988The thunder of guns... The clatter of tanks... The yammer of machine guns, and agony. Operation Cobra.
On 25 July 1944 the Allies launched a massive attack from the American sector. The German forces, already at breaking point, simply collapsed in the face of the attack. What if Rommel had blown it? What if Rommel and Patton had met each other in battle? What if? Can you hold back the Allies and drive them back? Or can you smash the German front apart even more thoroughly? Or are there two equally dim dolts at the computer who can't manage anything against each other but a bit of petty needling...
Patton versus Rommel is a finely made game. Thanks to the clear icon system, learning it can't really give anybody much trouble. Beginners have it even easier - there aren't even any icons. Just simple moving of units.
There aren't many icons, but with them you can control your units effectively: three different attack and defence modes, 45-degree turning, road mode and wait. That's all. Shouldn't be hard.
Playing is effortless, and not just thanks to the icons. Everything is done via the joystick, so there's no need to stretch for the keyboard. Only part of the play area is shown on screen at a time, but the little map at the bottom makes it easy to move the view over whichever area you want.
The game is neat and good in every respect. The background looks a little different from what you're used to, apparently digitised straight from a map. The sound, however, is a bit crummy, but it's not worth worrying about.
