1988Dreams seem to be popular stuff in Europe at the moment - witness what is already the second game set in a dream world. The game's plot is nothing more than a simple statement: press the fire button to start dreaming. In the dream world you simply try to make your way across it unharmed, but to get back to the real world you need a magic diamond.
In practice Giana Sisters is an out-and-out Mario Brothers clone, but a very good one. In the game you steer Maria, Giana or both (in two-player mode) along a landscape scrolling from right to left, dodging monsters and jumping from one platform to another.
The Amiga and C-64 versions are almost identical, though the Amiga's technical head start guarantees that its version wins by a nose at the finish line. The graphics are meticulously detailed and beautifully shaded, and since the sound side has been handled in exemplary fashion as well, TGGS is a gripping jumping game for all age groups.
