1988Sarjassamme juonia keksimällä keksittyjä:
Hullu Proffa on taas irrallaan! Se sama, jonka suunnitelmat sinä, Agentti X kakkonen, viime kerralla teit tyhjiksi hänen yrittäessään kidnapata presidentin. Tällä kertaa superrikollinen on rakentanut kuuhun tukikohdan, josta käsin aikoo laukaista Zit-säteen. Zit-säde aiheuttaa parantumattoman aknetaudin, ja Proffa suunnittelee maailman talouden menevän sekaisin ihmisten kuluttaessa rahansa näpynpoistorasvoihin. Vain sinä voit pelastaa maailman (hohhoijaa...) tunkeutumalla liitoreppusi avulla Proffan tukikohtaan ja tuhoamalla sädetyslaitteen.
No niin, se 'juonesta'. Pelin grafiikka on ihan hyvää, muttei erikoista. Musiikki on ihan hyvää, muttei erikoista. Juoni ei ole hyvä mutta se on kylläkin erikoinen. Onko pelissä mitään sekä hyvää että erikoista?
On. Itse asiassa ei pelissä vaan kasettilatausrutiinissa, joka ei ole mikään tavanomainen turbo ja jonka takia yleensäkin kirjoitin tämän arvostelun. Näppärän laturin avulla peli latautuu pikapikaa kasetilta ja samalla soi taustalla Rob Hubbardin erinomainen latausmusiikki JA samalla VOI PELATA SPACE INVADERSIA!!!
1988From our series of plots contrived purely for contrivance's sake:
The Mad Prof is on the loose again! The very same one whose plans you, Agent X the Second, foiled last time when he tried to kidnap the President. This time the supervillain has built a base on the moon, from which he intends to fire the Zit Ray. The Zit Ray causes an incurable case of acne, and the Prof is planning for the world economy to go haywire as people blow all their money on spot cream. Only you can save the world (yaaawn...) by infiltrating the Prof's base with the help of your jetpack and destroying the ray machine.
Right then, so much for the 'plot'. The game's graphics are quite good, but nothing special. The screen scrolls from right to left, and all manner of objects spin around on it, draining your energy when they hit you. Your job, of course, is to shoot them from the saddle of your jetpack off to the happy spinning grounds. After that you infiltrate the underground base, destroy the ray gun and that's that. The music is quite good, but nothing special. The plot isn't good, but it certainly is special. Is there anything in the game that's both good and special?
There is. Actually, not in the game but in the cassette loading routine, which is no ordinary turbo and which is the reason I wrote this review at all. Thanks to the nifty loader the game loads off the tape in no time flat, while Rob Hubbard's excellent loading music plays in the background AND at the same time YOU CAN PLAY SPACE INVADERS!!! A really fun idea, thanks to which you forget all about your cuppa and your snack while it loads. The loading game is simple but it works, and so you'd almost rather play it than the game itself. Still, it's not worth buying the game just for the Space Invaders.
