Lisää tavaraa on kuitenkin tullut.
Graafisesti Impossible Mission II on aivan edeltäjänsä kaltainen. Itse asiassa jopa huonompi, sillä taustan värit on valittu todella huonosti.
Jokainen ensimmäiseen Mahdottomaan Tehtävään rakastunut on mennyttä miestä tämän uudenkin edessä. 'Another visitor! Play awhile, play forever...'
1988Three years ago saw the release of Impossible Mission, which to this day is still regarded as one of the best computer games in the world. When it came out, the game sold thousands of copies purely because the hero let out a truly magnificent shriek as he fell into the void.
And now the legend gets a sequel. The same agent searches Elvin's buildings for snippets of music with which to get at Elvin and save the world. All the old stuff is still there: the same somersault jump, the same death shriek, the lifts, the computer terminals, the robots and the pocket computer. In fact all the speech samples and effects are exactly the same as in the first one.
Still, some new stuff has been added. There are several models of robot, and by searching you can find, besides robot snoozes and lift resets, bombs for opening the safes (which hold the pieces of code to Elvin's lair). The arsenal also includes mines, with which you can blow the robot bas.. ..ket cases to kingdom come and back. Finding a clock gets you extra time. New this time, you can't get from one building to the next unless you've found the necessary code numbers and managed to put the right code together from them. Thank the Lord, the man still has an unlimited number of lives.
Graphically Impossible Mission II is just like its predecessor. Actually it's even worse, since the background colours have been chosen really badly. Every colour I hate or will ever come to hate is in there. The agent himself moves with the same smooth animation as before.
This game's charm hasn't worn off over the years. Everyone who fell in love with the first Impossible Mission is a goner when faced with this new one too. 'Another visitor! Play awhile, play forever...'
