Twin Tornado
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1987Hyvien lentosimulaattorien valitettavan harva laivue on saanut jälleen yhden kelvollisen tulokkaan.
Valkoisillakin pilvillä on valitettavasti usein musta sydän: piuha täytyy tilata Englannista. Voiton maksimointi on aina hauska harrastus, mutta tällä kertaa olisi DSS voinut tyytyä edes tavalliseen RS-kaapeliin.
Twin Tornado perustuu eurooppalaiseen monitoimihävittäjään Panavia Tornadoon. Tornadossa on muun muassa taittuvat siivet, mikä mahdollistaa 2.2 Machin nopeuden.
Twin Tornado on vaikuttava ensiohjelma uudelta firmalta, toivottavasti ensi kerralla maltetaan viimeistellä ohjelma kunnolla. Tässä muodossa voi Tornadoa suositella lähinnä simulaattoriväelle.
1987The regrettably thin squadron of good flight simulators has gained one more worthy recruit.
And this recruit actually offers something new: at last, flight simulator fans have the chance to take each other's measure! By connecting two Commodore 64s with a cable, the flyboys can saturate each other with lead.
Sadly, even white clouds often have a black heart: the cable has to be ordered from England. Maximising profit is always a fun hobby, but this time DSS could at least have settled for an ordinary RS cable.
Twin Tornado is based on the European multi-role fighter, the Panavia Tornado. Among other things, the Tornado has swing wings, which make a speed of Mach 2.2 possible.
Unfortunately, the fighter's versatility doesn't carry over into the simulator. The brave pilot has to make do with just picking enemy fighters out of the sky. No bombing runs, no ground support, and even in air combat only the two 27 mm cannons are available.
A pity, really, since Twin Tornado is technically excellent, and had the whole memory been put to use, Microprose might finally have got a serious rival.
Twin Tornado uses vector graphics exceptionally well. They're plenty fast enough that you really feel you're flying. The sound, on the other hand, is pretty much non-existent, as is typical of simulators.
The facts are surely well in hand, since one of the programmers is a fighter pilot and the other is involved in making a Tornado simulator for the military.
The superior flight characteristics partly make up for the simple views. Twin Tornado is an impressive debut from a new company; hopefully next time they'll have the patience to finish the program off properly. In its present form, Tornado can be recommended mainly to the simulator crowd.
