Spindizzy
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1987Monet tuntevat automaattipelin Marble Madnessin. Spindizzy seurailee grafiikaltaan Marble Madnessia. Pelin idea on kuitenkin aivan toisenlainen.
Peli-idea on mielestäni kiehtova.
Spindizzy on eräänlainen seikkailupeli. Sen ratkaisu vaatii taituruutta. Joissakin ruuduissa on käytettävä hyväksi hyppyreitä, toisissa taas on hypittävä trampoliineilla eteenpäin. Joskus tarvitaan kahden kytkimen käyttöä yhden laitteen toimintaa varten.
Spindizzyn grafiikka seurailee Marble Madnessia pääpiirteiltään. Harmittava piirre on grafiikan softscrollin puuttuminen. Pelialueella liikutaan ruutu kerrallaan. Hyvä toiminto on mahdollisuus kentän tarkkailuun eri ilmansuunnista.
Spindizzy tuntuu alusta alkaen hienolta.
Mielestäni Spindizzy on eräs parhaimpia tämän hintaluokan pelejä.
1987Many people know the arcade game Marble Madness. Spindizzy takes after Marble Madness in its graphics. The idea of the game, however, is completely different. In Marble Madness the aim is to get through a level as quickly as possible, after which you move on to the next one. In Spindizzy, on the other hand, you have to explore the whole terrain; there is no actual final solution.
In my opinion the game idea is fascinating. It can't be solved in a moment. The ever-dwindling playing time can be topped up by collecting diamonds, but you lose time whenever your craft is destroyed. The large playing area guarantees that the game won't be solved on the first day after you buy it.
Spindizzy is a kind of adventure game. Solving it takes skill. On some screens you have to make use of jumps, while on others you have to bounce your way forward on trampolines. The game has lifts and bridges that first have to be switched on. Sometimes two switches are needed to make a single device work.
Spindizzy's graphics follow Marble Madness in their main features. An annoying feature is the lack of smooth scrolling. You move around the playing area one screen at a time. A good feature is the option of viewing the level from different compass directions. That way you don't have to guess the route if some object happens to get between the craft and the player. At the start of the game the player's craft looks like a pyramid balanced on its point. With the I key, though, you can change its shape into either a ball or a spinning top.
Spindizzy feels great right from the start. There's not much sound to speak of, but the neat graphics make up for the shortcoming. The game is guaranteed to hold your interest for a good while longer than just until the first solution. There are always new tricks and ways of solving things to discover.
In my opinion Spindizzy is one of the best games in this price range.
