Gyroscope
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1987Pelin idea on vastaava kuin kolikkopelissä Marble Madness. Ohjailet hyrrää (gyroskooppia) pitkin erilaisia tasoja ja reittejä koettaen saada sen kunkin radan loppuun asti.
Bonuspisteet saatuasi pääset jatkamaan seuraavaan kenttään, joka on yleensä aina hiukan vaikeampi kuin suorittamasi. Erilaisia kenttiä on useita kymmeniä, joten yrittämistä riittää varmasti jonkin aikaa.
1987The idea of the game is the same as in the coin-op Marble Madness. You steer a spinning top (a gyroscope) along various levels and routes, trying to get it all the way to the end of each course.
Once you've collected your bonus points you get to carry on to the next level, which is nearly always a little harder than the one you just finished. There are several dozen different levels, so there's certainly enough to keep you trying for a good while.
The gyroscope is best steered with a joystick (keyboard control is possible too), and after a little practice it's reasonably easy. The top's wobbling motion does make steering a matter of precision, though, and in quite a few places the track is so narrow that there's no room for big swings. Extra trouble comes from critters barging into your path, magnets and slippery patches, which send the top into a handsome somersault and over it goes!
The three-dimensional graphics are clear and well made. On some levels the top's colour could stand out better from the background. A stylish snippet of music plays in the background.
Gyroscope is a quality choice in its class, and offers just the right amount of challenge for a long time.
