1987No niin... onhan pelejä kaikenlaisia, niin kuin meitä ihmisiä, mutta...
Shockway Riderin idea on kyllä omaperäinen, mutta samalla kehno. Pelaaja on tulevaisuuden jenginuori, jonka on näytettävä kykynsä tekemällä täysi kierros - toisin sanoen kierrettävä kaupunki kolminopeuksisella liukuhihna- jalkakäytävällä. Vaikeuksia aiheuttavat muut jalankulkijat, vihulaisjengin jäsenet, liikennemerkit ynnä muut esteet. Tietään voi tasoittaa viskomalla tienvarresta poimittuja esineitä, kuten pulloja.
Toteutus puolestaan on pelkästään kehno. Ainoa hyvä idea on pelin alkuun tehty digitoiduista roikaleenkuvista koostettu animaatio. Rob Hubbard on väsännyt musiikin, mutta sekään ei totisesti ole Mr. Gamemusicmakerin parhaimpia kipaleita. Varsin vaatimattoman vaikutelman tämä peli jättää.
1987Oh well... it takes all sorts, games as well as us people, but...
The idea of Shockway Rider is certainly original, but at the same time lousy. The player is a gang kid of the future who has to prove himself by doing a full lap - in other words, going all the way round the city on a three-speed conveyor-belt pavement. Trouble comes from other pedestrians, members of the rival gang, road signs and other obstacles. You can clear your path by hurling objects picked up from the roadside, such as bottles.
The execution, on the other hand, is just plain lousy. The only good idea is the animation at the start of the game, put together from digitised pictures of hoodlums. Rob Hubbard has knocked out the music, but even that is certainly not one of Mr. Gamemusicmaker's best tunes. This game leaves a rather modest impression.
