1987Jihuu! Vaihteeksi taas huitomispeli. Näyttää siltä, että jatkuva valitus näistä peleistä on saanut huomiota ohjelmataloissa, koska Samurai Trilogyssa on yritetty puhaltaa uutta henkeä vanhaan ideaan.
Ensimmäisenä kasetilla on tavallinen karatepeli. Viimeisenä on Samurai, jossa huidotaankin jo kunnon miekoilla.
Gremlinin yritys tällä alueella on todellinen floppi. Kolme peliä tosin, mutta jokainen on huono.
1987Yippee! Another flail-'em-up, for a change. It's been quite a while since I last saw one of these - what, three days already? Now it's Gremlin Graphics' turn to try its wings in this rewarding field. It looks as though the constant complaining about these games has caught the attention of the software houses, because Samurai Trilogy tries to breathe new life into an old idea. But there's no point trying to revive the dead.
The new ideas amount to squeezing three games on the same idea onto one cassette. On disk that's no problem, but on cassette...
The loading system will have the keen player tearing their hair out. There's been an attempt to give the game some depth by adding practice and training options. You can also choose your opponent and read up on their fighting tactics.
First on the tape is an ordinary karate game. The only difference is that it's below average. The graphics are crude and the action is pretty chaotic. Next up is Kendo, where the only differences are the backgrounds and the fact that the guys have had sticks shoved into their hands. Last comes Samurai, where at last you get to flail away with proper swords. What all the parts have in common is a reasonably neat background, but chaotic action and poor sprites.
Gremlin's venture into this field is a real flop. Three games, granted, but every one of them is bad.
