Mugsy
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1987Peliä mainostetaan gansterimaailman sarjakuvapeliksi. Käytännössä peli on aivan tavallinen tekstiin perustuva taktiikkapeli. Hyvin tehdyt kuvamaisemat ovat vain tyhjän ruudun täytettä.
Pelaaja johtaa omaa joukkuettaan. Sen pitää tulla toimeen hyvin, muttei liian hyvin. Liika menestys tuo aina mukanaan vihollisia.
Pelaaja ostaa asiakkaita, joita suojellaan, hankkii aseita omille konnilleen ja kerää rahaa poliisin lahjontaan.
Päätösten teon jälkeen kone laskee menestyksen vuoden aikana ja esittää yhden kuvan tapahtuman elämästä gangsterikaupungissa. Peli etenee näin kierros kierrokselta ja on haukotuttavan hidas.
Vaikka maisemat ovat komeita, niihin kyllästyy. Ainakaan nuorimmat pelaajat eivät viihdy pitkään Mugsyn maailmassa. Jotain puuttuu pelistä, menestystä ei tule.
1987The game is advertised as a comic-strip game set in the gangster world. In practice it is a perfectly ordinary text-based tactics game. The well-made picture scenes are just filler for an otherwise empty screen.
The player runs a gang of their own. It has to do well, but not too well. Too much success always brings enemies along with it.
The player buys up clients to protect, gets hold of guns for their hoods and collects money for bribing the police.
Once the decisions have been made, the computer works out how you did over the year and shows a single picture of some event from life in the gangster city. The game proceeds like this, round by round, and is yawn-inducingly slow.
Handsome as the scenes are, you get fed up with them. The youngest players, at least, won't stay entertained for long in Mugsy's world. Something is missing from the game, and success isn't coming its way.
