Mercenary
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

Pelissä on mahdoton kuolla.
Pelialue on laaja. Se jakautuu maan päällä olevaan asutettuun alueeseen, jolla on kymmeniä rakennuksia. Maan alla on kaupunkeja, joista löytyy paljon hyödyllisiä esineitä.
Mercenaryn grafiikka on ehdottomasti pelin parhain piirre. Se on (tietenkin) vektorigrafiikkaa. Lentämällä matalalla suurella nopeudella näkee hienoja näköaloja. Grafiikka ei kertaakaan mennyt sekaisin monien muiden pelien tapaan.
Mercenaryssa on monia erikoisuuksia.
Mielestäni peli on erinomainen Eliteen verrattava peli.
1987In Mercenary the player makes a forced landing on a planet called Targ. A war is under way on Targ between the Palyars and the Mechanoids. The player's task is to find the planet's only working spaceship and get back to the home planet. To find the spaceship, you have to collect money from Targ's warlike inhabitants and explore the area. It is impossible to die in the game. Without a vehicle, however, getting around can become so tedious that you'd rather start the game over from the beginning.
The playing area is large. It is divided into a populated area above ground, with dozens of buildings. Underground there are cities where you can find lots of useful objects.
Mercenary's graphics are definitely the game's best feature. They are (of course) vector graphics. Flying low at high speed you get some great views. The graphics never once got scrambled, the way they do in many other games.
Mercenary has lots of special touches. If you destroy the game maker's own advertising sign, the enemies come down on you. The game also has Atari and Commodore signs, and destroying them earns you the comment "Nice show" or "Traitor", depending on the make.
In my opinion this is an excellent game, comparable to Elite. Although Novagen is still an unknown software house, this program is sure to get it some publicity. If you happen to play the game through to the end, it's worth saving your position for Mercenary II, which is currently in the works.
