Ballblazer
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1987Ballblazerin idea on sama kuin jalkapallossa. Pelaajia on aina kaksi. Jollei kahta pelaajaa löydy, on vastustajana tietokone.
Pelin tarkoituksena on tietenkin tehdä mahdollisimman monta maalia.
Peli on kuitenkin liian yksinkertainen.
1987The idea of Ballblazer is the same as in football. There are always two players. If you can't find a second player, the computer is your opponent.
The object of the game is naturally to score as many goals as possible. The pitch is fairly large and its edges are completely elastic magnetic fences. The players sit in rotofoils, small craft surrounded by a magnetic field. With the magnetic field you can catch the ball and carry it along with you. You "kick" the ball into the goal by boosting the strength of the rotofoil's magnetic field (fire button). The ball then flies forward at tremendous speed.
So that the game doesn't get too easy, the goal gets smaller after every goal scored. After seven goals the goal is only 2.5 metres wide. In a one-player game you can also choose a tougher computer opponent.
The game's musical and graphical presentation is better than average. In my opinion this game is extremely interesting. I myself couldn't stop playing it again and again. The game is too simple, though.
