Jumpin' Jack Son
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1990 SyksyBeethoven, Mozart, Strauss, Wagner. Näiden entisaikojen hirviöiden luomat harmoniset hirviöt eivät kuolleet, vaan ovat uhkaamassa rock'n roll -maailmaa. Mikä kyseisen musiikin nykysuuntauksen ottaen ei huolestuta pätkääkään. Pällin niminen Jumpin' Jack Son (älkää kysykö) on rock-maailman ainoa toivo.
Peli kulkee yksinkertaisesti. JJS pomppii ruudukolla, joista osa vaihtaa väriä niille pompatessa. JJS:n pitää muuttaa ruudut samanvärisiksi, jolloin hän saa äänilevyn, joka täytyy kuljettaa samanväriseen levysoittimeen. Tällöin kulloinkin soivaan kappaleeseen liittyy uusi soitin.
Gallialainen ammattitaito tihkuu jokaisesta kolosta.
1990 SyksyBeethoven, Mozart, Strauss, Wagner. The harmonic monsters created by these monsters of days gone by did not die, but are now threatening the world of rock'n roll. Which, considering where said music is heading these days, isn't the least bit worrying. A noggin by the name of Jumpin' Jack Son (don't ask) is the rock world's only hope.
The game works simply. JJS bounces around on a grid of squares, some of which change colour when he bounces on them. JJS has to turn the squares all the same colour, whereupon he gets a record, which has to be carried to the record player of the same colour. When that happens, a new instrument joins the tune playing at the time. Once the players are full, JJS can move on to the next world.
Livening up the game are bonus items that appear every now and then, and, to suit the theme, the enemies consist of instruments fit for performing so-called 'classical' music. You can get a password for skipping the early levels, but only if you pull off a brain-straining bonus round.
Gallic craftsmanship oozes from every nook and cranny. The amusing graphics are crowned by Rolling Stones-influenced music, which sounds almost as good even on the ST as on the Amiga. And so it should, since without the thump of the music JJJ would lose most of its charm.
Jumpin' Jack Son is a fun, playable and original game that doesn't rehash the old cliches. There's recommendation enough right there.
