A-10 Tank Killer
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1990 SyksyMaailmojen luomiseen vektorigrafiikan avulla erikoistunut Dynamix on viimeisen puolen vuoden aikana suoltanut pelejä roppakaupalla.
Suosittelenkin näppisohjausta, vaikka siinäkin on omat puutteensa.
Kaiken kaikkiaan A-10 Tank Killer on teknisesti huippuluokkaa, muttei saavuta läheskään samaa tasoa suunnittelullaan tai pelattavuudellaan. Kokeilkaa ennen kuin ostatte.
1990 SyksyDynamix, who specialise in creating worlds with vector graphics, have churned out games by the bucketload over the last six months. Unfortunately Dynamix's problem seems to be achieving that final polish (or, more accurately, failing to achieve it), since the crew's games are almost without exception superficial and tedious.
That's how things stand with A-10 Tank Killer too. The programmers have been content to show off their skill at writing fast graphics routines and nice pictures, and the game design has been left to go to seed. The player is plonked into the cockpit of an A-10 multi-role fighter and handed a pile of missions that affect the war going on all the while. Beginners get a training area, so you don't have to charge off to war with the backs of your ears still dripping wet.
Running in true VGA mode, the game offers an excellent 256-colour vector landscape that updates commendably briskly on 386 machines. The amount of landscape detail can be turned down if there isn't a 20,000-mark games machine sitting on your desk. According to the sticker on the box the game supports the most common sound cards, but in the usual Dynamix fashion only the title music comes from the card, while the sound effects come out as beeps. CMS's Soundblaster and the AdLib work flawlessly, but for some reason the game didn't notice the Roland sound card.
Playability isn't top of the flight-simulator class. This minus docks points from Appeal's pocket at the same time. The A-10 is an extremely sensitive and badly over-responsive aircraft, at least according to this simulation. The control inputs are coarsely notched, and moving the joystick more than a millimetre easily sends the plane into a spin. In a nutshell: playing with a joystick will make you blow your top! So I'd recommend keyboard control, although that has its own shortcomings too.
All in all A-10 Tank Killer is technically top class, but it gets nowhere near the same level with its design or its playability. Try before you buy.
