Snoopy

1990 KevätMenestyvän sarjakuvan ainekset Charles Schulzin mukaan: otetaan lauma pikkuvanhoja kakaroita ja jätetään aikuiset turhina pois. Lisätään varsinaiseksi tähdeksi koira, koska ihmishenkilöiden inhimillinen ilmaisuvoima on rajoitettu.

Näin ainakin uskoo The Edge, joka on tämän Ressu-pelin markkinoille tempaissut.

Ensin kirjeen kirjoittamiseen. Sen jälkeen Amigan resetoimiseen. Yäk.

Joka tapauksessa peli osoittaa, etteivät Edgen sarjakuvalisenssit graafiselta ulkoasultaan onnahtele. Bugit pois, pelattavuutta hiukka lisää ja seuraavaksi aiheeksi vaikka Lassi & Leevi, Edge hyvä.

1990 KevätThe ingredients of a successful comic strip according to Charles Schulz: take a gang of precocious brats and leave out the adults as superfluous. Add a dog as the real star, since the human powers of expression of human characters are limited. The result: Peanuts, one of the most popular and most worldwide comic strips there is. And if a subject sells as a comic strip, it'll sell as a computer game too.

Or so The Edge at least believes, having whipped this Snoopy game onto the market. The game is a typical action adventure: Linus has lost his blanket and Snoopy sets off to look for it, since the blessed trauma case won't even go to a psychiatrist. Our hero roams the landscapes far and wide, lugging around and using various objects. The scenery and characters are faithful to the original, and there are no lapses of style to be seen.

In this computer comic strip the sound side is limited to the title-screen tune. One joystick and the space bar are enough to steer the beagle, if only you knew/guessed what you're supposed to do. The movements could be a bit nippier. You can only carry one object at a time, and after a while you find yourself traipsing back and forth across the game's rather cramped area.

The game would surely be to the taste of younger fans of action adventure games, but let them too be warned about the game's illogicality and a few annoying bugs. Example 1: the objects you need can be dropped in places from which they can no longer be retrieved. Example 2: the typewriter in the game can be used for two purposes. First, for writing a letter. After that, for resetting the Amiga. Yuck.

In any case, the game shows that Edge's comic licences don't limp when it comes to graphical looks. Bugs out, a smidgen more playability, and for the next subject how about Calvin & Hobbes, my dear Edge.
