Silicon Dreamsin seikkailut ovat Snowball, Return to Eden ja The Worm in Paradise. Paremmat taustatiedot omaavan hengitys jo korisee, muille tiedoksi: Scifiä!
Snowball: kolonisaatioaluksella on jotain pielessä. Kahden miljoonan uudisasukkaan henki riippuu sinusta, sinun henkesi riippuu näppäryydestäsi ja jossain välissä on saatava selville mitä oikein tapahtuu.
Return to Eden on jatko edelliseen.
Kunhan paratiisista ensin pääsee ulos on edessä myyräntyötä.
1989 SyksyUnlike most arcade games, a good text game never gets old. Good proof of that is the already almost classic Silicon Dreams - a collection of three ancient Level 9 text adventures. The copyrights on all of them point towards 1986, but no one can claim they are bad.
The adventures in Silicon Dreams are Snowball, Return to Eden and The Worm in Paradise. Those better versed in the background are already wheezing; for everyone else's information: Sci-fi! Sadly the Enterprise doesn't come clattering around any corners, and only in Snowball do you adventure aboard a spaceship, but sci-fi is always sci-fi.
Snowball: something is wrong aboard a colonisation ship. The lives of two million settlers depend on you, your life depends on your own deftness, and somewhere along the way you have to find out what is actually going on.
Return to Eden is a sequel to the previous one. You saved the ship, but the cameras claim you are the ship's saboteur, and your thanks for that is a death sentence. You nevertheless manage to escape to the planet Eden, but you'll have to hurry if you intend to stay alive for long. Nor is that the only problem...
Worm in Paradise: the planet is a perfect paradise, but someone isn't happy. Once you manage to get out of paradise in the first place, there's some undermining to be done.
All the text adventures have been made with the same technique: slow graphics drawing whose end result isn't great either. The drawing routine does let you type while the picture is being developed, though, so it doesn't slow down play. The parser is nothing much, but it works. Level 9's own speciality is the Ram Save/Ram Load and Oops options, which let you save your position to RAM and use oops to step back one notch.
All the parts are nonetheless excellent, even if they can't hold their own against Infocom.
