Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1989 SyksyBrittien televisiossa esiintyvä Gilbert edustaa varsin toisenlaista näkemystä söpöstä ulkoavaruuden oliosta kuin amerikkalaisia viihdyttävä Alf: se on vihreä, turpeahuulinen riiviö, joka muistuttaa happoaltaassa uitettua punkkaria.
Pelin tapahtumat alkavat siitä, että Drill-planeetan asukkaat tulivat violetiksi kateudesta kuultuaan Gilbertin sopimuksesta TV-yhtiön kanssa. He päättivät sabotoida Gilbertin Millenium-luokan roskapönttöä poistamalla siitä muutamia tärkeitä osia, kuten WC-istuimen. Gilbert saa vinkkejä osien piilopaikasta sillä ehdolla, että lyö ennätyksen viidessä suositussa videopelissä.
Ikävä kyllä Drill-planeetalla näyttää olevan ankara pula hyvistä ohjelmoijista. Videopeleistä löytyy Space Invaders -klooni, jossa vihreä limaklöntti ammuskelee ihmisiä, epäpelattava Operation Wolf -klooni, yksinkertainen muistitesti ja pari muuta alkeellista mikälie-kloonia. Pelit ovat yleensä hetkessä ohi, eikä samaa peliä saa pelata kahdesti peräkkäin, joten suuri osa ajasta kuluu harhaillessa rakennusten sokkeloissa.
Ympärillä hääräävät hämärät mönkijät on syytä räkäistä kuoliaaksi, jolloin saa haltuunsa papupurkin tai palan kakkua. Papuja syömällä voi nousta lentoon, mikä perustuu siihen, että ne kiihdyttävät eräiden luonnonkaasujen muodostumista. Vaikutuksen voi kumota nauttimalla jälkimmäistä einestä. Kaupungin lisäksi pelialueeseen kuuluu viemäriverkosto (jossa pavuille löytyy käyttöä) ja vedenalaisia luolia, mutta niissä ei ole mitään tekemistä ennen kuin on onnistunut jossain videopelissä.
Amigan ja kuusnelosen versioita on turha eritellä, sillä ne ovat aivan yhtä huonoja, paitsi että Amigan Gilbert on ehkä rahtusen verran pelattavampi. Lisenssipeleissä tämä ei ole mikään itsestäänselvyys.
Pelin pakkauksesta ja ohjeista saa helposti käsityksen, että kyseessä olisi hulvattomalla brittihuumorilla höystetty sekoilu, mutta itse asiassa se on aivan tavallinen Lazy Jones -tyylinen metapeli, siis peli pelien pelaamisesta. Ideaa on käytetty lukemattomia kertoja ja yleensä suuremmalla menestyksellä, joten Gilbertin kohtalona on päätyä Excelsior-luokan paperikoriin.
1989 SyksyGilbert, who appears on British television, represents a rather different vision of the cute creature from outer space than Alf, who entertains the Americans: it's a green, thick-lipped brat that looks like a punk who has been dunked in an acid bath.
The events of the game begin when the inhabitants of planet Drill turned violet with envy on hearing of Gilbert's contract with the TV company. They decided to sabotage Gilbert's Millenium-class rubbish bin by removing a few vital parts from it, such as the toilet seat. Gilbert gets tips on where the parts are hidden on condition that he beats the high score in five popular video games.
Sadly, planet Drill seems to be suffering from a severe shortage of good programmers. The video games include a Space Invaders clone in which a green blob of slime shoots at humans, an unplayable Operation Wolf clone, a simple memory test and a couple of other primitive whatever-it-is clones. The games are usually over in no time, and you can't play the same game twice in a row, so much of the time goes on wandering around the mazes of the buildings.
The shady creepy-crawlies bustling about are best gobbed to death, which gets you a can of beans or a piece of cake. Eating beans lets you take off into the air, which is based on the fact that they speed up the production of certain natural gases. The effect can be cancelled by partaking of the latter foodstuff. Besides the town, the play area includes a sewer network (where the beans come in handy) and underwater caves, but there's nothing to do in them until you've succeeded in one of the video games.
There's no point in telling the Amiga and C-64 versions apart, since they are every bit as bad as each other, except that the Amiga Gilbert is perhaps a smidgen more playable. With licensed games, that is by no means a given.
The packaging and instructions easily give you the impression that the game is a madcap romp seasoned with riotous British humour, but in fact it's a perfectly ordinary Lazy Jones-style metagame, that is, a game about playing games. The idea has been used countless times, and usually with greater success, so Gilbert's fate is to end up in an Excelsior-class wastepaper basket.
