Skate Crazy
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

Peli on siisti, melkein hyvä.
1988Skateboarding never dies (but the people who do it certainly do). Gremlin's new offering seems to be bawling that out with every one of its bits... Skating, jumping and wiping out under the eyes of a demanding panel of judges...
Our friend Wallie has to win points from the judges by pulling off all sorts of stunts, each one wilder than the last. The stunting, in turn, takes place on various courses: first in a car park and on the roof of a building, later on a more demanding competition course. Every now and then you visit a small arena where you have to collect a set number of objects in a race against the clock.
In one sense Skate Crazy is a forgiving thing to play: death is not a guest who drops in every other moment. A failed jump is not rewarded with the loss of a life. Only if you don't manage to get between two gates quickly enough is doom at the door. But there's time aplenty...
The game is neat, almost good. You'll gladly play it for quite some time, although this one won't keep you happy forever either. It's just that at times the controls grate on your nerves rather heavily, especially when jumping over obstacles doesn't seem to come off. The jumping really could have been done better, but in other respects there's no great cause for complaint. This always beats some stupid shoot'em up, even if it can't be compared to Elite.
