Bad Cat
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1988Eletään vuotta 1988 ja Soul valmistautuu olympiakisoihin. Kuuluisuudet valmistelevat puheitaan ja kisojen järjestäjät odottelevat ihmismassoja saapuviksi. Mutta kaikkien inhoamat pahamaineiset viemärikissat suunnittelevat omia kisojaan.
Huh huh, kaikista lukemistani idioottimaisista pelin oikeutukseksi kyhätyistä tarinoista Bad Catin jorina on varmasti niitä kaikkein typerimpiä.
Bad Cat muodostuu muutamasta lajista, joissa ohjataan esteiden yli ja ali säntäilevää kissaa. Kissojen World Games, siis.
1988The year is 1988 and Seoul is getting ready for the Olympics. Celebrities are preparing their speeches and the organisers are waiting for the crowds to pour in. But the notorious sewer cats, loathed by everyone, are planning games of their own.
Phew. Of all the idiotic stories I've read that were cobbled together to justify a game, Bad Cat's drivel must surely be among the very dumbest.
Bad Cat consists of a handful of events in which you steer a cat dashing over and under obstacles. World Games for cats, then. The events are certainly rather peculiar, ranging from trapeze artistry to barrel kicking, and there's even some beer drinking in there. Playing it could be quite a pleasant way to pass the time, if the playability hadn't been botched quite so thoroughly. The stupid moggy just won't obey the joystick. The final fine-tuning has gone wrong, and it wrecks a game that looks and sounds nice.
The C-64 version's graphics don't lag much behind even the Amiga version's, but the game's sound certainly doesn't make you sit up and take notice. A big plus worth mentioning is the intro that loads first, whose background music deserves a perfect ten. Once the game had frustrated me, I actually loaded the intro all over again. It's nicer to watch and listen to than the game is to play.
