Terror of The Deep
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1987Loch Ness, luonnonkauniin Skotlannin kuuluisin järvi, on tapahtumien keskipisteenä.
Terror Of The Deepistä tulee välittömästi mieleen Lucasfilmin The Eidolon.
Juonta lisäämällä olisi Terror Of The Deep vallan erinomainen peli. Huonompaakin on nähty, joten kuten aina, koesukellus kannattaa.
1987Loch Ness, the most famous lake in scenic Scotland, is at the centre of events. The villagers would hardly begrudge the interest shown in their loch, except that the visitors are from outer space. A clever technician has managed to build a submersible with which the loch's secrets can be dredged up to the surface and Nessie rescued. The technician throws in the towel, however, and you are the only one who knows how to operate the underwater wonder.
The task is simple in principle: find the aliens' energy crystal(s), blow them up, and if you can't find anything else to do, harpoon any space creepy-crawlies that venture too close as well. Naturally the aliens' idea of fish food is you, but who wants to live forever?
Terror Of The Deep immediately brings to mind Lucasfilm's The Eidolon. The same sort of Victorian-looking contraption, from whose cockpit the surrounding world takes shape. The graphics just aren't as splendid. There's plenty to fiddle with in the craft's cockpit, which sadly can't be said of the game itself. Once the craft goes wherever the player wants, the endless alien slaughter starts to get tedious. A pity, really. A helping of originality goes to waste.
With more plot, Terror Of The Deep would be a downright excellent game. As it stands, it can't get me, a devotee of complicated simulators, all that madly excited. We've seen worse, though, so as always, a test dive is worth it.
