Golden Path

1987Golden Path on muinaiseen Kiinaan sijoitettu toimintaseikkailun ja grafiikkaseikkailun risteytys. Päähahmo on nuori munkki, joka ottaa elämäntehtäväkseen isänsä kurjan kohtalon kostamisen ja tämän turmioon ajaneiden valloittajien karkoittamisen. Siinä sivussa pieni taika on lipsauttanut hänet valkopartaiseksi vanhukseksi.

1987Golden Path is a cross between an action adventure and a graphic adventure, set in ancient China. The main character is a young monk who makes it his life's mission to avenge his father's wretched fate and to drive out the conquerors who brought him to ruin. Along the way, a little spell has slipped him into the shape of a white-bearded old man.

The instructions that come with the program are fairly simple, but still pretty good. The plot is laid out in a novella, as has become the custom these days, and it is unfortunately in English. Although the idea of the game is quite nice in itself, as is the background to the story, the actual events of the game are pretty unimaginative.

If you like, you can pick up the written descriptions of the game's various locations from a book shown in the lower corner of the screen, and the items you are carrying appear in "pockets" along the bottom edge of the display. All of this is quite nice, but the helpless clumsiness of getting from one place to another and the lack of alternative actions take all the oomph out of the whole game.
