Falklands 82
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

Ohjelma antaa englantilaiset joukot pelaajan komentoon. Tehtävänä on vallata Itä-Falklandin saaren pohjoisosan taajamat noin kuukauden kuluessa.
Pahin moka on kuitenkin voiton määrityksessä.
1987This game is exceptional in that the battles it is modelled on are still fresh in everyone's memory. In the spring of 1982 the course of the conflict between Argentina and England was followed in almost every news broadcast.
The program puts the English forces under the player's command. The task is to capture the settlements in the northern part of the island of East Falkland within about a month. All the units that took part in the fighting are included. The navy provides fire support, and Harriers operating from the aircraft carriers fly ground-attack sorties when needed and fend off Argentine air raids.
This game is a contradictory package in that, although in many respects it has very successfully aimed for the greatest possible historical and military accuracy, the English transport helicopters, for example, have been deliberately left out of the program. They gave the British a considerable edge in many situations by allowing troops to be moved quickly to wherever the main effort was.
Falklands 82 offers the player a range of difficulty levels, starting from very easy and going all the way up to the masochist's special. As the difficulty goes up, Argentine morale improves, the units become stronger and they dig in on better-sheltered ground.
The program still seems a bit half-baked. The way units must be given their orders in a fixed, unchangeable sequence causes troops to jam up, when the unit you command first may well be stuck behind the one you command last. Then again, the colours have been badly chosen, and on a poor television you can't be sure what the situation is, because the letters blur into the background.
The worst blunder, though, is in how victory is determined. You see, the program counts it as a defeat if the player has destroyed all the enemy units and only liberates the last settlement on the final turn. And even if individual units do surrender easily, the Argentine high command doesn't seem to grasp the difference between fighting and suicide either, when only a couple of crippled units are left to hold out against an entire army.
