1987Falcon Patrol II on yksinkertainen, mutta silti kohtalaisen hyvä peli. Ohjaat pystysuoraan nousemaan ja laskeutumaan pystyvää lentokonetta, ja tehtäväsi on tuhota vihollisen helikoptereita.
Scrollaus tapahtuu vaakatasossa ja alue jolla partioit on melko pieni. Tapahtumia riittää silti ihan tarpeeksi.
Hävittäjäsi voi ampua sekä vaakasuoraan että vinosti alaspäin, ja molempia suuntia kyllä tarvitaankin, mikäli aikoo pelissä menestyä. Helikopterit hyökkäävät aaltoina, muutama kerrallaan. Osa niistä on taistelukoptereita, jotka ampuvat konettasi. Toiset taas kuljetuskoptereita, jotka maahan laskeutuessaan usein jättävät paikalle ilmatorjuntatykin!
Nämä tykit sinun on luonnollisesti tuhottava jos aikomuksesi on selvitä pitkälle... Ja niistä saa pisteitäkin enemmän kuin koptereista.
Peli vaikeutuu pikkuhiljaa pistemäärän lisääntyessä. Viholliset ampuvat enemmän, niiden lukumäärä lisääntyy ja tuovatpa ne mukaan vielä tutkanhäiritsijänkin, joka sotkee kuvaruudun alaosassa olevan tutkan täydellisesti.
Tutkan lisäksi näet polttoaineen, ammusten ja jäljellä olevien koneittesi määrän, kuten myös kulloinkin jäljellä olevat viholliset kyseisellä tasolla.
Lentokoneen ohjaus sujuu pelkällä tikulla ja on helppoa. Valitettavasti suihkukone ei käänny yhtä nopeasti kuin vihollisen helikopterit, joten joskus tulee hiukan kiireisiä tilanteita.
Yksinkertaisuutensa ansiosta peli on helppo pelattava ja toimii mainiosti. Maisema on siististi tehty ja liike kuvaruudulla sujuvaa.
1987Falcon Patrol II is a simple but still fairly good game. You fly a plane capable of vertical take-off and landing, and your task is to destroy enemy helicopters.
The scrolling is horizontal and the area you patrol is fairly small. Even so, there's plenty going on.
Your fighter can shoot both horizontally and diagonally downwards, and you'll certainly need both directions if you mean to get anywhere in the game. The helicopters attack in waves, a few at a time. Some of them are gunships that shoot at your plane. Others are transport choppers, which, when they land, often leave an anti-aircraft gun behind!
Naturally you have to destroy these guns if you intend to last long... And they're worth more points than the choppers, too.
The game gets harder little by little as your score goes up. The enemies shoot more, there are more of them, and they even bring along a radar jammer, which completely scrambles the radar at the bottom of the screen.
Besides the radar, you can see your fuel, your ammo and the number of planes you have left, as well as how many enemies are still left on the current level.
The plane is flown with the joystick alone and is easy to handle. Unfortunately the jet doesn't turn as quickly as the enemy helicopters, so things sometimes get a bit hectic.
Thanks to its simplicity the game is easy to play and works splendidly. The scenery is neatly done and movement on the screen is smooth.
