Ideana on ennemminkin auttaa New Yorkin kaduilla mellastavien jengien jäseniä siirtymään autuaammille metsästysmaille.
Kujilla liikkuvilla lukuisilla naisilla on kaksi tehtävää.
Talojen sisälläkin on omat vaaransa. Vaaniessaan ikkunassa aseettomia huligaaneja Charles tarjoaa selkäpuolensa maalitauluksi huoneeseen tallusteleville rikollisille.
Hänhän on yksi niitä harvoja ihmisiä, jonka piirteet voidaan piirtää kolmella viivalla. Näinpä myös C-64:n spritegrafiikka pystyy kuvaamaan Charlesin vaivatta.
1987Despite the game's title, the winner is not whoever is first to succeed in killing himself. The idea is rather to help the members of the gangs rampaging through the streets of New York move on to happier hunting grounds.
For the duration of this game and the film of the same name, Charles Bronson has taken the name Paul Kersey. Having first let the gangs terrorise him and his family, Charles decides to give the hooligans a taste of their own medicine. Armed with a .475 Magnum, a pump-action shotgun, a submachine gun and a light rocket launcher, he puts up quite some resistance to the fists and clubs of the young gang members.
Roaming the streets of New York is definitely not good for your health, if this action game is anywhere near the truth. The people on the streets fall into four groups: police, criminals, little old biddies and shady floozies. The many women moving about the alleys have two jobs. They hike their skirts up to mid-thigh for Charles's delight as he walks past, and they drag the bodies off the streets. They'll have work enough to last them until retirement, since dead policemen alone seem to turn up in exactly the same numbers as dare to venture onto the streets, and Charles never tires of looking at petticoats either.
Bronson gets around the streets of the big city with the help of a map on which he can keep checking his position. With his arsenal he kills in house and garden, although Charles scores more points shooting through the window from a living room. Indoors has its own dangers too. While he lies in wait at a window for unarmed hooligans, Charles offers his back as a target to criminals padding into the room. Mostly, though, the flats are full of old biddies wandering about with their handbags raised. In this game even a handbag is a deadly weapon, as many a granny-clubbing gang youth will find out during play.
The best thing the game has to offer is its music, which will send Mike Oldfield fans in particular into raptures. Those who like speed and a hair trigger will also get their satisfaction. Child psychologists and youth workers, on the other hand, are hardly going to be causing crushes in the game shops.
After a few games you start to get a strong feeling that Charles Bronson's facial features were what lay behind the game's creation. He is, after all, one of those few people whose features can be drawn with three lines. And so even the C-64's sprite graphics can depict Charles without any trouble.
