Cobra

1987Cobrahan on siis tämä C-luokan Judge Dredd, jonka tehtävä on vapauttaa maailma rikollisuudesta. Päärikollisena tässä pelissä on Nightslasher, jonka katala aikomus on täyttää pelimarkkinat ö-luokan lisenssituotteilla. Pystyykö Mario Cobretti pelastamaan kuluttajaparat tältä kammottavalta kohtalolta? Haluavatko kuluttajat tulla pelastetuiksi?

Paras ase kuitenkin on virtakytkin. Cobrettin kunto näkyy hampurilaisena mikä onkin omaperäisin juttu tässä pelissä. Huumorin kukka se ei lakastu koskaan.

Cobra on uusi luku kelvottomien lisenssipelien ylipitkässä listassa. Oceanin seuraava peli on varmaankin Rocky IV, jossa kauniin paketin sisällä on tyhjä kasetti. Tuskinpa se myyntiä haittaa. Sitä kansa saa mitä kansa ostaa. Lisenssipelit ovat sairaus, mikä on lääke?

1987So Cobra, then, is this C-grade Judge Dredd whose job is to rid the world of crime. The chief villain in this game is Nightslasher, whose dastardly plan is to flood the games market with Z-grade licence products. Can Marion Cobretti save the poor consumers from this horrifying fate? Do the consumers even want to be saved? Cobra is a surefire subject that would sell the game even if it were a Rambo clone with new graphics. But that, by golly, is one thing Cobra is not!

Unfortunately. Instead, Cobra is an almost straight rip-off of Green Beret, lacking only the green hat's flawless execution. The world's least Stallone-looking sprite clomps forward bit by bit while crooks twice as fast hurl knives and axes and atom bombs. Every now and then the unarmed Cobra accidentally (you bet!) kills a passer-by and tries to find not only photo model Ingrid but also a Jatimatic with a laser sight, not to mention other weapons. The best weapon, though, is the power switch. Cobretti's health is shown as a hamburger, which is in fact the most original thing in this game. Ah, the flower of humour - it never wilts.

Cobra is yet another entry on the overlong list of worthless licence games. Ocean's next game will probably be Rocky IV, with an empty cassette inside a pretty package. That's hardly going to hurt sales. The people get what the people buy. Licence games are a disease - what's the cure?
