Automania
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1987Automania on Suomessa melko tuntemattoman Mikrogen-yrityksen tuote. Pelin päähenkilönä on sympaattinen Wally. Lieneekö sukua Jet Setin Willylle?
Pelissä Wallyn täytyy koota kuudesta osasta tehtäviä autoja. Jokainen osa on haettava vaarallisesta paikasta liikkuvien palkkien päältä ja Wallyn pitää kiipeillä tikkaita ylös ja alas. Pomppivat renkaat estävät kokoajan kulkua parhaansa mukaan.
Wallyn ohjaus on helppoa. Ohjaustoimintoja ovat vain oikealle, vasemmalle, ylös, alas ja hyppy.
Peli on hiukan kyllästyttävä. Aina kolme elämää menetettyään pitää aloittaa kokonaan alusta. Autojen kokoaminen on hidasta. Vasta seuraavan auton kokoaminen tuo vaihtelua. Silloin osavarasto on erilainen ja siksi on pakko suunnitella uudet reitit.
Grafiikka on hyvä. Hahmot ovat selkeitä, liikkeet sujuvia ja värit selkeitä.
1987Automania is a product of Mikrogen, a company that is fairly unknown in Finland. The game's main character is the likeable Wally. Could he be some relation of Jet Set Willy?
In the game Wally has to assemble cars that are built from six parts. Every part has to be fetched from a dangerous spot on top of moving girders, and Wally has to clamber up and down ladders. Bouncing tyres do their best to block his way the whole time.
Controlling Wally is easy. The only controls are right, left, up, down and jump.
The game is a bit tedious. Every time you lose three lives you have to start again right from the beginning. Assembling the cars is slow. Only when you get on to building the next car is there some variety. The parts store is different then, so you're forced to plan new routes.
The graphics are good. The characters are clear, the movement smooth and the colours clear.
