Ivan Ironman's Super Off Road Racing

Kuusnelosen Super Off Road näyttää hieman suttuiselta, mutta grafiikka ajaa asiansa.

Pienestä grafiikasta huolimatta pelattavuus on erinomainen.

1991 KevätNext up among the sports stars who have had games named after them is Ivan Stewart, a Californian off-road racer who has won fame by competing in long marathon races for two decades.

IISORR is based on the familiar Super Sprint: four cars race on a track that fits on a single screen, shown from above. The worst one or two drop out, though always in such a way that the same number of drivers come in to replace them. Money bags and nitro packs appear at random on the track during a race. Nitro briefly raises the car's top speed, while money can be spent between races on better tyres, shock absorbers, a higher top speed or acceleration.

The Commodore 64 Super Off Road looks a bit smudgy, but the graphics do their job. The playability is good, although winning is all too easy, since getting through to the next round poses no problems whatsoever for race after race. Played solo, the game doesn't give you cause for excitement for very long, but played with two it naturally takes on a new and considerably more fun flavour.

The Amiga Ivan Ironman's Super Offroad, converted by Graftgold (Andrew Braybrook, the man behind Paradroid, Uridium and Rainbow Islands), is a success. The difficulty level stays reasonable, and instead of Badlands' two human players, three can play at once here, although one of them has to make do with the keyboard. Despite the small graphics, the playability is excellent.
