1990 KevätDomark ja Tengen jatkavat tähän mennessä menestyksellistä yhteistyötään kolikkopelien kotiversioiden tekemisessä. Hard Drivin' oli mielestäni kyllä pettymys...
Toobin' on jopa jonkinlaisen kulttipelin statuksen pelihalleissa saavuttanut märkä peli, jossa kaksi sälliä revittää täytetyillä autonrenkailla alas hurjasti virtaavaa koskea. Matkan varrella uhkaavia vaaroja ovat esim. kalastajat, krokotiilit ja terävät puskat, jotka puhkaisevat renkaan ja saattavat koskenlaskijan niin kovasti himoitsemaansa elementtiin.
Jenkeissä niin suosittu ajanviete on täällä Suomessa kai täysin tuntematon, mutta perusidea on siis yksinkertaisesti vain lasketella koskea alas maaliin nopeammin kuin kaveri. Onkin vaikea kuvitella, miten tällaisestakin aiheesta voidaan vääntää peli, mutta niin se vain on. Kaiken lisäksi peli on vielä kohtalaisen hauska!
Graafisesti Amigan versio on tarpeeksi lähellä kolikkopeliä, jotta kolikkopelistä nauttineet tuntevat olonsa oikein kotoisaksi. Musiikkina pauhaa jokin mitäänsanomaton kappale, jonka tekopirteys alkaa jonkin ajan kuluttua ärsyttää.
Kontrollisysteemi on aluksi hieman hankala, kun loogisesti oikea joystickin liike saakin aikaan täysin päinvastaisen efektin, mutta kaikkeen tottuu ja pian pikselifriikki kepitti hurjasti käsillään meloen alavirtaan. Vaikeustaso on säädetty suht' sopivaksi, siten että siinä pääsee jokaisella pelikerralla hieman pidemmälle ja tämä pitää kiinnostusta yllä. Ainakin jonkin aikaa.
Toobin' on aivan kiva peli, etenkin kun koneen äärestä löytyy kaksi joystickin vatkaajaa, mutta siihen kyllästyy aivan liian nopeasti. Ei siis mitään uutta.

Toobin' is a wet game that has even achieved some sort of cult status in the arcades, in which two dudes tear down a wildly rushing rapid on inflated car tyres. The dangers threatening along the way include fishermen, crocodiles and sharp bushes, which puncture the tyre and deliver the rapids-rider into the element they crave so badly.
This pastime, so popular over in the States, is probably completely unknown here in Finland, but the basic idea, then, is simply to ride down the rapids to the finish faster than your mate. It's hard to imagine how anyone could wring a game out of a subject like this, but there you go. On top of everything, the game is even fairly fun!
Graphically the Amiga version is close enough to the coin-op that those who enjoyed the coin-op will feel right at home. The music is some meaningless ditty blaring away, whose forced cheerfulness starts to grate after a while.
The control system is a bit awkward at first, since the logically correct joystick movement produces the exact opposite effect, but you get used to anything, and soon this pixel freak was waggling the stick like mad, paddling downstream with his hands. The difficulty level has been set more or less right, so that you get a little further each time you play, and that keeps your interest up. For a while, at least.
Toobin' is a perfectly nice game, especially when there are two joystick-wagglers at the machine, but you get bored of it far too quickly. So, nothing new.
