G.I.Joe
Pelit was a Finnish-language (bi)annual book series published from 1987 to 1991 containing gaming-related articles, tips and most importantly game reviews. Here you can find all the reviews from the books. The reviews were originally written in Finnish; the English versions are translations of the Finnish originals.

1987Pelissä johdat kansainvälistä terroristeja vastaan taistelevaa järjestöä. Vastassasi on rikollisjärjestö COBRA. Komennossasi olevista erilaisista miehistä voit valita haluamasi taistelemaan vuorollaan Cobran edustajaa vastaan.
1987In the game you lead an international organisation that fights against terrorists. Your opponent is the criminal organisation COBRA. From the various men under your command you can pick whichever one you like to take their turn fighting a Cobra representative. The game can be played either alone or by two, although in practice two-player is the only sensible option.
In a fight you go head to head with a Cobra villain, and both of you have some weapon or other with which the idea is then to bump the other one off.
You can follow the state of play from the energy bars at the edge of the screen. The fights basically come in two kinds: either man against man, or else, say, a helicopter or a tank against enemy troops.
The duels are actually completely identical, despite the men and weapons changing. Graphically they are fairly good, which on the other hand cannot be said of the troop battles. Those are also usually harder than the duels.
The game loads from disk one match and one man at a time, so the disk is spinning almost the whole time, and every now and then you have to flip it over too.
A game can go on for hours, but if this kind of shooting/fighting business is your thing, G.I.Joe will keep you entertained for a long time. Others, on the other hand, may be bored by the game's samey situations and slightly clumsy controls.
