1987Jos salattu haaveesi on lentää Tyynenmeren yllä Lockheed P-38 -hävittäjässä ja antaa kaksoiskonekiväärien puheen tyhjentää sinitaivas muista alan yrittäjistä on 1942 tehty sinulla mittatilaustyönä.

Alunperin japanilaisen (jopas!)

1987If your secret dream is to fly over the Pacific in a Lockheed P-38 fighter and let your twin machine guns do the talking until the blue sky is cleared of other entrepreneurs in the same line of business, then 1942 was made to measure for you. No thick instruction booklets, just you, a joystick and lightning-fast reflexes.

Originally created by the Japanese (fancy that!) Capcom, 1942 is a classic shoot-'em-up in which the enemies, Japanese this time, come down from the top of the screen with a kami-gaze in their eyes, and both sides shoot at each other. Every now and then a strange POW symbol turns up, and collecting these gives you more firepower. That comes in handy for knocking down the bombers that appear a little later. After a successful round the aircraft carrier comes into view and the next slaughter begins, albeit with different enemies.

After the brilliant Ghost'n Goblins, 1942 is a mild disappointment. The graphics and sound are standard fare, and although you will enjoy playing it, its simplicity means you won't still be playing it years from now. Still, basic shoot'em-ups always have their own band of followers, who will surely be delighted with this one too. A steady, reliable arcade conversion from Elite.
